Product Overview & Application Area
The 9 kW 400 V heating element is an electric screw-in heater for direct water heating in suitable water heaters, storage tanks, buffer tanks, or heat exchangers. The MB 9000 OWRG/400V variant is intended for the 1 1/2-inch version and, according to the documentation, is typically used in domestic hot water heaters and heat exchangers with a capacity of approximately 200 to 500 liters.
The GEMA heating element can be used for supplementary hot water preparation during the heating season or for independent heating outside the heating season, provided that the storage tank, installation space, electrical installation, and operating conditions are suitable for the 400 V version.
Technology & Equipment
The 9 kW version with 400 V is based on the OWRG design and is intended for three-phase connection. The heating element features an integrated thermostat with a temperature control range of approximately 30 to 75 °C ±5 °C.
The installation length L is 580 mm. The thread connection is designed as 1 1/2 inch / 6/4 inch. According to the documentation, the 400 V version has a nickel-plated finish and indicator lights for power connection and heating operation.
Everyday Benefits
The integrated thermostat allows the desired water temperature to be set directly on the heating element. The separate indicator lights of the OWRG design support easy visual monitoring of the power connection and heating operation.
The 400 V version is particularly suitable for appropriate storage tank and heat exchanger applications where a professionally connected three-phase heating element with high electrical heating output is required.
System Integration & Compatibility
The heating element is intended for suitable storage tanks, water heaters, buffer tanks, or heat exchangers with a matching 1 1/2-inch connection. Before installation, the threaded connection, socket length, installation length, installation space, and the approval of the respective tank or system manufacturer must be checked.
For the OWRG version, the maximum socket length is 90 mm. Operation is intended exclusively for water and takes place in a horizontal installation position.

Installation
Installation and electrical connection may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel. Before installation, the system and storage tank must be taken out of operation, disconnected from the power supply, allowed to cool down, and depressurized according to the system conditions.
The heating element is screwed into the metal flange using suitable tools. The plastic housing and the connection cable must not be used as levers. After installation, the storage tank must be filled, vented, and checked for leaks.
Notes
The heating element must never be operated dry and must be completely surrounded by water before switching on. The heating element is intended only for water and is not suitable for other liquids.
The integrated overheating protection must not be bridged or disabled. In the event of unusual noises, odors, moisture, visible damage, or tripping of the overheating protection, operation must be stopped and the cause checked by a specialist.
