The Atmos GS 20 wood gasification boiler is a manually fed hot water heating boiler for split logs, designed for heating single-family homes and similar properties. The unit operates on the wood gasification principle with an exhaust fan, which supports stable combustion and controlled heat output typical of this design. With a nominal output of 20 kW, this model is suitable for systems requiring a classic log boiler with clear, robust technology.

Technology & Features

The boiler is designed for burning dry split logs. Combustion occurs using the downdraft gasification principle with an exhaust fan. The boiler body is made of steel sheets, and the secondary combustion chamber is equipped with ceramic components. Features include a boiler thermostat, flue gas thermostat, flow temperature thermometer, main switch, and mechanical operation of the start-up flap. A cooling loop is also included for protection against overheating.

System Integration & Compatibility

The Atmos GS 20 should be integrated into a professionally planned heating system with a buffer tank. The documentation explicitly recommends installation with a buffer tank and Laddomat 22 or a suitable return temperature boosting system to maintain the minimum return temperature and ensure clean operation. A minimum return temperature of 65 °C must be maintained for the boiler circuit, with the flow temperature set between 80 and 90 °C. For boiler outputs of 15 to 25 kW, pipe connections to buffer tanks should be made using 28x1 mm copper or 25 mm steel pipes.

Installation

Installation must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and based on professional system planning. The boiler must be placed in a boiler room with an adequate supply of combustion air; for systems between 15 and 75 kW, the documentation specifies a combustion air opening of at least 350 cm². A foundation dimension of 700 x 600 mm is recommended for the GS 20. The connection to the chimney must be professionally executed, and the flue pipe connection should be as short as possible, rising, and no longer than 1 m.

Notes

Only dry split logs or chopped wood with a residual moisture content of 12 to 20 % should be used for operation. Fresh or overly damp wood impairs combustion and can negatively affect performance, consumption, and the lifespan of the boiler and chimney. When lighting the fire, set the flue gas thermostat to 0 °C; during operation, set it to the normal working range. According to the documentation, the boiler thermostat should be set to approximately 85 to 90 °C. Operation, connection, and electrical work must be carried out by qualified personnel.
